Harriette Scott is new SREB Vice President of Postsecondary Education

Harriette Scott has joined the Southern Regional Education Board as vice president for postsecondary education.

In this role, Scott leads SREB’s postsecondary programs, including the Academic Common Market and the State Doctoral Scholars Program, education data services and state authorization reciprocity agreements.

“I am energized and ready to work with the entire SREB team to connect and collaborate with states and institutions in ways that positively enhance education and the workforce,” Scott said. “I’ve worked my entire career to be able to impact student access and success at this level.”

A St. Louis native, Scott is a nationally recognized educator and presenter who brings more than 20 years of faculty and administrative experience from the SREB region states of Maryland, South Carolina, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Virginia. In three of these states, she received “Teacher of the Year” and “Service Excellence” recognitions and awards. She also has served in public and private institutions in Missouri and Massachusetts.

Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a master’s in teaching early childhood education from Norfolk State University and a doctorate in higher education administration from Morgan State University.

“I am so excited to welcome Dr. Scott to SREB,” SREB President Stephen Pruitt said. “She comes with a vast array of knowledge and experience that will be a great support to our states and their institutions. I am excited to see Dr. Scott lead us as we work toward supporting students’ success in postsecondary.”
