Progress in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate in SREB States

By Rebecca Daugherty Kaye

SREB states know that getting students engaged in a challenging high school curriculum is the most important step toward getting all students ready for college and careers. The Challenge to Lead Goals for Education single out student participation and success in AP and IB Programs as ways to measure each state's progress. This publication reports that SREB states lead the nation in student participation in these programs, and it offers strategies for increasing the numbers of students taking these courses - especially students from underrepresented groups.

Goal that it reflects:  5. All recent high school graduates have solid academic preparation and are ready for postsecondary education and a career.
