Annual Leadership Forum
The Annual Leadership Forum, convened by the SREB Learning-Centered
Leadership Program, focuses on progress and challenges in achieving the SREB
Challenge to Lead goal for school leadership. Approved by the region's
leaders in 2002, the SREB Challenge to Lead Goals for Education call for
states to ensure that all schools have effective leaders who can help improve
student achievement.
The Forum agenda is designed to convey the need for change, spur states to
action and keep the momentum in redesigning leadership preparation programs.
Through a combination of panel discussions, presentations, breakout sessions and
state team discussions, participants gain important insights into creating a
cohesive, learning-centered leadership system and learn best practices from
research and innovative state programs. Throughout the Forum, teams analyze
their current status on critical indicators and make plans for improving and
implementing statewide systems for quality leadership preparation and
development.
The sixth Annual Leadership Forum is scheduled for May 7 - 8, 2009, in
Atlanta, Georgia.
