SREB/AT&T State Virtual Schools Alliance
Sharing information and resources for state-supported virtual
learning
For nearly a decade, the SREB Educational Technology Cooperative has helped
SREB's 16 member states provide high-quality online academic courses to middle
grades, high school and postsecondary students. More recently the Cooperative
has increased its work with the K-12 community, focusing on what it takes to
develop and provide high-quality online courses and teaching, and what state
agencies need to do to provide the organization and structure to meet state
academic goals.
In partnership with the BellSouth Foundation (now the AT&T Foundation), the Southern Regional Education
Board launched the SREB-State Virtual Schools Alliance in June 2005 to help
member states increase middle grades and high school students' access to quality
academic courses through state-supported virtual schools.
Through a multiyear grant, the alliance helps states share the information
and resources essential to the successful creation of a state virtual school,
including developing or acquiring quality online courses, preparing competent
online teachers and securing adequate funding.
