Selection Process

1. All application packets must be submitted no later than April 4, 2008. Only complete packets will be considered.
2. Upon receipt of all application requirements, the Doctoral Scholars Program staff at SREB will forward copies of the application packets to the appropriate SREB states for selection review. The Doctoral Scholars Program staff at SREB are not involved in the selection process.
3. Selection processes vary from state to state. Past award selections have been based on, but are not limited to:
   1. letter of interest;
   2. statement of teaching goals;
   3. area of study (science, technology, engineering and math fields preferred); and
   4. letters of recommendation.
4. After selections are made by the participating SREB states, Doctoral Scholars Program staff will be notified.
5. Announcement of selected Doctoral Scholars Program Award recipients and Dissertation Year Fellowship recipients will be immediate upon selection and notification from states.
6. Scholars selected will be notified by phone.
