Proposed Teacher Salary Increases, 2020
Teacher salaries remain a key education issue across the country. Legislatures in many SREB states took action in 2019 to increase teacher salaries for the 2019-20 school year.
As of February 24, 2020, governors in seven SREB states have proposed teacher salary increases.

Notes:
- Salaries currently determined at the local level through collective bargaining; governor’s proposal would set a $47,500 minimum annual salary and provide funding for the resultant raises.
- Amount of salary increases depend on each LEA’s salary schedule and structure; governor proposes funding that would be sufficient for an across-the-board 4 percent salary increase.
