Commission on Artificial Intelligence in Education
How can we prepare students for AI in K-12 through postsecondary and the workforce?
The SREB Commission on Artificial Intelligence in Education will convene leaders in education and business to chart a course for how AI is used in classrooms and how to prepare people for a workforce transformed by technology. The two-year commission will review research and industry data and hear from education experts. It will then develop recommendations for Southern states to lead in:
Commission on Career Pathways and Credentials
The Commission on Career Pathways and Credentials includes members from each of SREB’s 16 states, including leadership from governors’ offices and state agencies, K-12 superintendents, principals and teachers, postsecondary deans and faculty members, and business leaders. They will learn from one another and review research, data and promising practices.
They will develop recommendations for:
Commission on Strategic Partnerships for Work-Ready Students
How can we build and scale partnerships to prepare more students through work-based learning?
Commission on College Affordability in the South
How do state financing policies impact affordability? What kinds of policy changes can improve both affordability and college completion?
Commission on Computer Science and Information Technology
What policies and practices will help more young people explore jobs in computer science, information technology and related areas?
Early Childhood Commission
How can states raise the quality of early education programs and ensure they are well-coordinated across different agencies and budgets?
Commission on Career and Technical Education
How do we help more young people earn the postsecondary credentials and degrees that matter in today’s economy?
Community College Commission
States and colleges must help community college students move down a well-defined path to degrees and careers. The commission called for reforming college placement and carefully monitoring students who need remedial courses.
