On April 9, the Florida Legislature approved and sent to the governor House Bill 7069, which makes multiple changes to K-12 student testing. Among the provisions of the bill, it: reduces to 33 percent (from 50 percent) the share of teacher evaluations that are based on student testing data; caps the number of school hours that districts may schedule for administering statewide and district-required student assessments; and requires independent verification of the validity of statewide student assessments before they may be used for school grades or teacher and administrator evaluations.
